About the job
Articore runs Redbubble, TeePublic, Dashery, and Frankly Wearing — some of the largest creator marketplaces in the world, with Redbubble's catalog alone exceeding 40 billion SKUs.
The Search & Content team owns search, discovery, and content quality across Redbubble and TeePublic — driving relevance, ranking, and personalisation across a catalog of 40 billion+ SKUs. With organic traffic and SEO central to how the company grows, this team is one of the highest-leverage groups in engineering: improvements here move the needle on acquisition, conversion, and the long-term defensibility of our content position.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you'll be a hands-on technical anchor for the domain — owning meaningful pieces of our search and ranking infrastructure end-to-end, and helping raise the technical bar for a team that's still building out its depth. You'll work alongside a small group of engineers and data scientists spread across Australia, the US, and a growing India presence, partnering closely with the team's engineering manager, tech lead, and product manager to turn ambiguous problems into shipped, well-reasoned solutions.
Core Responsibilities:
Feature development and platform integration: Design, code, test, and deploy software across the team's systems. Lead small to medium-sized initiatives that solve complex problems at scale, in line with Articore’s Engineering Principles and architecture standards.
BAU maintenance and system health: Maintain and uplift existing services, manage tech debt responsibly, and ensure systems are well monitored with up-to-date documentation, under the guidance of the Tech Lead.
Delivery collaboration and technical leadership: Participate in discussions on technical approach and feasibility, collaborate with team leads on discovery and scoping, translate business requirements into technical spikes and deliverables, and participate in team ceremonies including standups, planning, retrospectives, and showcases.
Coaching and people development: Coach and support less experienced engineers in technical development, good engineering practices, and Articore values.
Innovation and roadmap input: Learn new tools, techniques, and technologies to shape opportunities for the business, and provide input into the team's technology roadmap to enable sustainable delivery against company objectives.
Requirements
Key Attributes for Success
Demonstrated effectiveness operating in a global company, with the communication, discipline, and async judgment required to keep work moving across time zones.
Curiosity and willingness to explore - the team owns a broad surface area of services across two marketplaces. The right person is energised by digging into systems they haven't seen before rather than deterred by it.
Ability to work independently on features end-to-end with the team's support, from technical spike and scoping through to deployment.
Solid testing and code quality practices, with the ability to uphold engineering standards and contribute to documentation and system health under the guidance of the Tech Lead.
Collaborative and inclusive — engages well across disciplines, gives and receives feedback openly, pairs willingly, and takes real interest in helping less experienced engineers grow.
