Senior Engineer ? Embedded Software (Real-Time Control Drivers, Benchmarking & Validation)

Location: Bangalore/Pune, India

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Embedded Software Engineer to help develop the foundational software stack for next-generation real-time control SoCs used in automotive, industrial automation, robotics, motor control, and digital power applications.

In this role, you will develop bare-metal C drivers and software frameworks for high-performance control peripherals and accelerators. You will work on driver design, performance benchmarking, validation, FPGA bring-up support, and software quality initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep embedded software expertise with strong hardware understanding and a passion for performance optimization and system-level debugging.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Development

Design, implement, and maintain bare-metal C drivers and HALs for real-time control peripherals and accelerators.

Develop low-level driver for real-time control peripherals: - ADCs

PWMs

DACs

DMA engines

Timers

Interrupt controllers

Encoder / Resolver interfaces

Safety and monitoring peripherals

Custom hardware accelerators

Define clean, scalable, and low-overhead APIs.

Produce high-quality design documentation, software specifications, and implementation guidelines

Benchmarking & Performance Characterization

Create micro-benchmarks and application-level benchmarks.

Measure and optimize: - Interrupt latency

Peripheral access latency

DMA throughput

Memory subsystem performance

Deterministic execution

Real-time control loop performance

Analyze CPU utilization, throughput, jitter, and latency bottlenecks.

Generate benchmarking reports and performance recommendations.

Validation & Verification

Develop comprehensive validation plans for software and hardware features.

Write automated test frameworks and regression suites

Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of functional and performance issues.

Validate functionality using: - Virtual simulation platforms like QEMU/VDK

FPGA prototypes

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in: - Computer Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Electronics & Communication

Embedded Systems

Technical Skills

Strong Embedded C programming skill, bare-metal firmware development

Experience developing motor-control firmware.

Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures.

Deep knowledge of: - Interrupts

Timers

DMA

Memory-mapped peripherals

Experience with debugging tools: JTAG, GDB, Logic analyzers, Oscilloscopes

Experience with Git and collaborative software development.

Familiarity with build systems and automation.

Embedded Systems Knowledge

MCU architectures (ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, or equivalent).

Performance optimization techniques.

Low-level system debugging.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with: - Field-Oriented Control (FOC)

Digital Power

Robotics control

Experience with Arm/RISC-V architectures.

Experience developing SDKs and software frameworks.

FPGA validation and pre-silicon verification experience.

Experience creating benchmark suites and performance characterization frameworks.

Project Delivery expectations

Deliver production-quality drivers for critical real-time control IPs.

Establish benchmark suites for latency, throughput, and determinism analysis.

Create automated firmware validation infrastructure for pre-silicon and FPGA environments.

Contribute significantly to first-pass silicon success by identifying and resolving software, integration, and performance issues early.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, can read register maps and architecture specifications, writes efficient bare-metal C code, and is comfortable moving between driver development, benchmarking, system validation, and silicon bring-up.
