Role Overview
The GCP Cloud Architect (L4) is responsible for defining and leading the architecture of enterprise-scale cloud platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role requires deep expertise in GCP services, Kubernetes (GKE), and cloud-native architectures. The architect will drive design standards, scalability, security, and innovation across cloud ecosystems while enabling engineering teams to build resilient and high-performing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own end-to-end cloud architecture for distributed systems on GCP.
Architect scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions using core GCP services.
Design and implement Kubernetes-based platforms using GKE for microservices and containerized workloads.
Lead architecture for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and DevSecOps practices.
Drive infrastructure design using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Establish best practices for cloud networking, IAM, security, and governance.
Architect microservices, API-first, and event-driven systems.
Define observability frameworks including logging, monitoring, and tracing.
Collaborate with application, data, and AI/ML teams to design cloud-native solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and governance across engineering teams.
Drive cost optimization, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
Support adoption of modern engineering practices such as SRE, GitOps, and automation.
Required Skills and Experience
8–10 years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or DevOps roles.
Strong expertise in GCP architecture and core GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, IAM, VPC).
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Proven experience designing scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native applications.
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Strong understanding of microservices, API design, and distributed systems.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
Deep understanding of cloud networking, RBAC, identity, secrets, policies, and zero-trust principles.
Experience in observability tools and practices (monitoring, logging, tracing).
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification.
Experience with GenAI application architecture on GCP.
Hands-on experience with Vertex AI and AI/ML solution design.
Familiarity with data engineering and analytics workloads on GCP.
Experience with GitOps tools and SRE practices.
