About the job
Job Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain high-quality, production-grade applications, services and automation primarily using Python. Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs, service integrations and cloud-native components using FastAPI and/or comparable Python API frameworks. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering, testing, deployment and operational activities, building maintainable Python-based tooling that improves developer productivity, software quality and delivery reliability. Design, implement and maintain automated unit, integration, API and regression tests, integrating quality controls into CI/CD pipelines. Develop and deploy secure, scalable, resilient and performant applications on AWS using modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices. Work with relational data stores, particularly PostgreSQL, contributing to robust data access and integration patterns. Collaborate with Java/Spring Boot engineers and other technology specialists across a mixed technology ecosystem, contributing to Java-based components where skills and project needs align. Participate in technical design, architecture discussions and code reviews, taking technical ownership of assigned features and helping to drive engineering standards and best practices. At Technology Lead level, mentor other engineers and contribute to technical direction. Support production systems through monitoring, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, driving improvements to reliability, performance and maintainability. Work closely with Product Managers, QA Engineers, Scrum Masters and other engineers, contributing to estimation, refinement, planning and delivery throughout the software development lifecycle. Continuously evaluate and adopt appropriate technologies, tools and engineering practices that improve automation, security, quality and delivery effectiveness. Preferred Qualifications Required 4–12 years of professional software engineering experience depending on level. Candidates with 4 to 6 years' experience will typically be considered for Senior Member Technical (P2). Candidates with 6 to 12 years' experience demonstrating greater technical leadership may be considered for Technology Lead (P3). Strong knowledge of modern Python and software engineering practices, including object-oriented and modular design, dependency management, packaging, exception handling, logging, maintainable code and testable application design. Strong commercial experience designing, developing and maintaining production-grade software using Python. Experience building backend services and RESTful APIs using FastAPI and/or comparable Python web/API frameworks. Experience developing automation, engineering tooling or automated workflows using Python. Experience writing and maintaining automated unit, integration and API tests using testing frameworks. Experience with AWS and developing or operating cloud-native applications. Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows using Git/GitHub. Experience working with PostgreSQL or another major enterprise relational database. Experience working within CI/CD pipelines, automated testing practices and modern DevOps environments. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including diagnosing issues across development, test and production environments. Proven experience working with Agile SDLC methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban. Willingness to take ownership of assigned areas and a proven ability to work within a collaborative team.
