Forward Deployed Engineer — AI Engineer (x4) Role title Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Engineer) Positions 4 Reports to Senior FDE (cell lead) Location Pune (2) and Trivandrum (2), on-premise with client squads (TBC) Indicative experience 4–7 years in software engineering, with 1+ year hands-on in AI-assisted / agentic development Role purpose Builds and operates the workflows, context assets and integrations that extend client-approved AI tools, while working day-to-day inside squads to help engineers adopt them. Key responsibilities • Build persona-guided workflows (refine a requirement, assess change impact, prepare a specification, generate test evidence). • Develop context assets, adapters and Factory skills/agents under Senior FDE direction. • Generate and maintain repository graphs, impact evidence and specifications; track context freshness. • Participate in squad ceremonies; resolve AI-tool blockers live and model spec-first work breakdown. • Pair with Champion Cohort engineers on live use cases and capstones. • Write evaluation tests, telemetry hooks and runbooks for every asset built. • Prepare lab material and demos for recorded, reusable learning modules. • Log friction and discoveries from retros into the Innovation Incubator pipeline. Required skills & experience • Solid coding in Python and/or Java/TypeScript; Git, testing and CI basics. • Hands-on with LLM APIs, RAG and agent frameworks; understanding of tokens, context and embeddings. • GitHub Copilot or Claude Code certified (or to certify within the first 4 weeks). • Comfort with MCP, REST APIs and cloud environments. • Clear communicator; able to explain AI workflows to non-specialists. Preferred • Graduate of UST's AI Engineers programme (Deployment Ready). • Exposure to data engineering, QE or SRE workflows. Success measures • Assigned workflows and assets delivered with evaluation evidence and runbooks. • Positive squad feedback on coaching value; measurable adoption in supported squads. • Assets transferred to client maintainers with no open critical defects. 4. Common to All Roles • Complete client onboarding (background, screening and InfoSec checks) before mobilisation. • Commit to the full 26-week engagement to support 0% key-coach turnover. • Work only on client-approved tools and environments; all engagement assets are client-owned outputs. • Report through the Weekly Status Report, fortnightly health review and quarterly business review.
