Position: Design Engineer – Exterior Panels & Cargo Body
Experience: 5–8 years in automotive plastic / composite panel design, with load-body or container design exposure
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech Mechanical, Automobile or Plastics Engineering
About the role
Design the exterior body panels and the foldable cargo box of a four-wheel electric cargo vehicle.
Key responsibilities
Design exterior panels and trims: roof, front, rear, mud and wheel-arch panels, headlight panel, mirror trims and charging port door.
Select material and process per panel (PP, ABS, FRP, thermoformed sheet).
Define wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, attachment to the cabin frame, gap and flush.
Design mountings for head lamps, indicators, brake lamps, reflectors and cargo lamps.
Design a ~1400 L cargo box with panel joinery and a foldable concept, targeting weight reduction; define quick-release attachment to the chassis.
Develop a cargo box swapping trolley / jack concept (lift height, locking, operator effort); place decals.
Produce 2D drawings with GD&T.
Skills and tools
Plastic and composite part design for injection moulding and thermoforming; surface modelling; sheet metal / sandwich panel joinery; hinge and fold mechanisms; GD&T.
CATIA V5 GSD or Siemens NX surfacing; SolidWorks sheet metal; mould-flow awareness.
Preferred: load-body, container or trailer body design experience.
