We are currently seeking a Data Engineer (Lead) to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).

AMS Data Platform Operations Engineer Lead

We are looking for an AMS Data Platform Operations Engineer to support a global ApplicationManagement Support service for an enterprise Data Platform based on Databricks .

The service operates on a 24/7 global support model and covers both User Support and OperationsSupport , ensuring platform availability, process continuity, and timely resolution of incidents andservice requests across the data ecosystem.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for the operational monitoring, technical support, andtroubleshooting of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, orchestration workflows, and platformcomponents running across Databricks , Talend , and the related Azure-based infrastructure.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in data operations, monitoring, incident analysis, andtechnical support for business-critical data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Level 2 / Level 3 AMS support for a global Data Platform operating 24/7.

Monitor and support scheduled jobs, workflows, notebooks, and data pipelines on Databricks .

Monitor and manage ETL orchestration processes developed with Talend 8 .

Perform operational support activities on Talend clusters hosted on Microsoft Azure .

Investigate incidents related to failed jobs, data processing errors, performance issues, connectivity problems, and platform unavailability.

Analyze logs and metrics using Kibana and other monitoring tools.

Troubleshoot Spark jobs, SQL queries, REST API integrations, and data ingestion flows.

Support data validation and reconciliation activities across platform components.

Interact with business users, data engineers, application owners, and global support teams to manage incidents, requests, and escalations.

Execute standard operating procedures, runbooks, restart procedures, and recovery actions.

Contribute to root cause analysis and problem management activities.

Identify recurring issues and propose automation, monitoring, or process improvements.

Support Power BI dashboard-related issues, including data availability, refresh failures, and connectivity troubleshooting.

Ensure service continuity in line with agreed SLAs, operational KPIs, and escalation procedures.

Technical Skills

8+ years of relevant experience including role as Technical lead.

Strong hands-on experience with Databricks .

Good knowledge of Talend 8 , especially for ETL orchestration and job scheduling.

Experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing.

Advanced SQL skills for analysis, troubleshooting, and data validation.

Experience with Microsoft Azure , preferably in relation to data platforms and cluster operations.

Knowledge of MongoDB for data storage and troubleshooting.

Familiarity with Power BI , especially dashboard refresh, semantic model connectivity, and data issue analysis.

Experience using Kibana for log analysis, monitoring, and incident investigation.

Understanding of REST APIs , authentication mechanisms, integrations, and error handling.

Good understanding of data pipelines, batch processing, ETL/ELT flows, job dependencies, and scheduling mechanisms.

Familiarity with ITSM processes such as incident, request, change, and problem management.

Operational Requirements

Availability to work within a 24/7 global support model , including shifts, on-call coverage, orfollow-the-sun support, depending on the service organization.

Ability to operate in production-critical environments with strict SLA requirements.

Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work under pressure during major incidents.

Ability to document incidents, actions performed, root causes, and recovery procedures.

Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Experience working with distributed international teams.

Nice to Have

Experience with automation of operational tasks.

Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data platforms.

Experience with Azure monitoring services.

Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security principles.

Previous experience in global AMS or managed service environments.

The AMS Data Platform Operations Engineer will ensure the stability, reliability, and operational continuity of the enterprise Data Platform, supporting users and technical teams while proactively monitoring and resolving issues across Databricks, Talend, Azure, and the connected data landscape.
