Assistant Manager – User Engagement

Location: Kolkata (Work from Office) Type: Full-time, Permanent Reports to: VP, Global Operations Role type: Individual contributor

About CLIRNET

CLIRNET is a digital platform used by verified healthcare professionals across India for continuing medical education, clinical content, and peer discussion. Our users are practising doctors. They are time-poor, sceptical of marketing, and will only open something that helps them in clinic tomorrow morning.

About the Role

You will own how a defined segment of our doctor base discovers, uses, and keeps coming back to CLIRNET — end to end.

This is not a role where a marketing automation tool does the thinking for you. We run on an in-house engagement stack. You bring the judgement: who to reach, with what, on which channel, and when. The platform executes it.

It is also not a generic CRM role. Half the job is knowing what doctors actually care about this week — a revised treatment guideline, a new drug approval, an NMC circular that changes how they practise — and turning that into a campaign that earns a click from someone who ignores most of what lands in their inbox.

You will report directly to the VP of Global Operations and work alongside two other engagement owners, each responsible for their own slice of the user base.

What You'll Do

Own the user lifecycle for your segment Plan and run campaigns across WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, Email, and Push — from onboarding and activation through to retention and win-back. Decide the channel mix for each cohort rather than blasting everything everywhere.

Bring clinical relevance into every campaign Track specialty guideline changes, CDSCO and FDA drug approvals, major congress proceedings, NMC and state medical council circulars, and rulings that affect clinical practice. Translate these into content and campaigns segmented by specialty, seniority, and platform behaviour.

Build the logic that catches people before they drift Design trigger-based journeys across lifecycle stages so that dormant and at-risk doctor cohorts are picked up automatically, not discovered three months later.

Reactivate the dormant base Run structured win-back programmes for doctors who have gone quiet, and find out why they left in the first place.

Test, read the data, adjust Run controlled tests on messaging, timing, subject lines, and CTAs. Work with delivery, open, and click-through data across channels. Kill what isn't working quickly and scale what is.

Turn behaviour into product input You see engagement patterns before anyone else does. Convert them into clear, specific feedback for the Platform and Content teams.

Work across functions Partner with content, design, and platform teams to ship what users actually respond to.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you are measurably moving:

The number of doctors actively engaging with the platform each month
Quarterly active users as a share of the registered base
Repeat visit rates — shifting occasional visitors into a weekly habit
Channel click-through performance across WhatsApp, SMS, and Email
Reactivation of long-dormant accounts
Average session duration and total engaged time on platform

We will share specific targets during the interview process.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

3–5 years in CRM, lifecycle marketing, growth, or user engagement
Hands-on experience running multi-channel campaigns at scale — particularly WhatsApp, SMS, and Email. You should be comfortable with WhatsApp Business template approvals, quality ratings, and what actually drives utility template performance
Strong analytical judgement. You can look at campaign and cohort data, work out what it means, and design the next experiment. Comfortable in Excel and reading dashboards
Ability to work on an in-house platform — you bring the strategy and the segmentation logic, not a dependency on a particular vendor tool
Genuine curiosity about the healthcare and medical space, and the discipline to keep up with it weekly
Clear written communication and the ability to work with content, design, and engineering without friction

Nice-to-haves

Background in healthcare, pharma, medical publishing, or medical education
A life sciences, pharmacy, or medical qualification
Experience marketing to professional or expert audiences rather than mass consumers

Why This Role

You report directly to the VP of Global Operations, own your segment outright, and see your campaigns reach doctors within days of designing them. There is no layer between your idea and the user.
