About the job:

Join a collaborative engineering team where you’ll lead the design and delivery of reliable, high-performance data solutions using Scala. In this role, you will take ownership of technical direction, guide implementation best practices, and help teams build scalable pipelines that turn raw data into trusted, actionable insights. You’ll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data needs, translate them into robust engineering solutions, and ensure quality through strong engineering discipline. Key Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end development of data engineering solutions using Scala, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.

Drive technical design discussions, define implementation approaches, and review code to enforce engineering standards and best practices.

Build and optimize data processing components, ensuring efficient transformations, validations, and error handling.

Collaborate with product, analytics, and platform teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.

Establish and maintain CI/CD-friendly development practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and automated quality checks.

Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.

Mentor and guide engineers, supporting technical growth and ensuring consistent delivery across the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline.

5–8 years of overall experience with strong hands-on expertise in Scala development for data engineering use cases.

Proven experience designing and implementing data processing logic with attention to performance and code quality.

Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including OOP/FP concepts, data structures, and clean coding practices.

Experience with code reviews, testing practices, and delivering production-grade solutions in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading technical delivery, including solution design, task breakdown, estimation, and stakeholder communication.

Strong experience in building scalable data pipelines and optimizing batch/stream processing workloads using Scala-based frameworks.

Exposure to distributed systems concepts and performance tuning for large-scale data processing.

Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive adoption of engineering best practices across teams.

Experience working in agile delivery models with a focus on predictable execution and continuous improvement.

Good to have skills:

Apache Spark, Akka, Kafka, Hadoop, SQL, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Data modeling, Observability/Monitoring tools
