Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Chassis Engineer with 4–6 years of experience in automotive chassis design and development. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and 2D engineering drawings, along with a strong understanding of chassis components and automotive engineering principles.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating chassis components and supporting product development activities from concept design to production. The role requires coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, quality, durability, safety, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize automotive chassis components and systems, including suspension, steering, braking, wheels, tires, and related assemblies.
Create and modify 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
Support chassis system integration and ensure compatibility with other vehicle systems.
Apply engineering principles to improve component strength, durability, weight, performance, and manufacturability.
Support vehicle dynamics development, including ride and handling, stability, and overall vehicle performance.
Participate in design reviews, engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design optimization activities.
Support CAE activities, including structural, thermal, and durability analysis, in coordination with the simulation team.
Prepare and review DFMEA, DVP&R, and other engineering documents required for product development and validation.
Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, quality, testing, and other engineering teams to resolve design and production issues.
Support prototype development, component testing, vehicle testing, and validation activities.
Analyze test results and implement design modifications based on engineering feedback and root-cause analysis.
Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), APQP, PPAP, and production launch activities.
Ensure compliance with applicable automotive engineering standards, quality requirements, and project timelines.

Required Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks for 3D part modelling, assembly modelling, and 2D drawing creation.
Good knowledge of automotive chassis systems and components, including suspension, steering, braking, wheels, and tires.
Understanding of chassis design principles, mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of GD&T, dimensional tolerances, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawing standards.
Understanding of design verification, product validation, and engineering change management.
Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, DFA, APQP, and PPAP processes.
Basic understanding of structural analysis, thermal analysis, and durability assessment.
Ability to troubleshoot design issues and coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Skills

Experience in automotive chassis component design and development.
Exposure to vehicle dynamics, ride and handling, suspension tuning, and performance validation.
Knowledge of CAE tools such as ANSYS or equivalent simulation software.
Familiarity with prototype builds, component testing, and design validation.
Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or engineering service providers.

Educational Qualification

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering is an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

4–6 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, automotive chassis engineering, or chassis component development.
Proven hands-on experience in SolidWorks-based mechanical design and detailing.
Experience in automotive product development, engineering drawings, and design reviews.
Experience in chassis design, suspension, steering, or braking components is preferred.

Key Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good attention to detail and design accuracy.
Effective communication and teamwork.
Ability to coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and testing teams.
Ability to manage multiple engineering activities and meet project deadlines.
