Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Talend Developer to support the assessment, migration, validation, and phased decommissioning of existing Talend workloads as they transition to Databricks.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on expertise in Talend Data Integration, Java-based Talend customizations, and legacy ETL workflows. The role requires close collaboration with architects and Databricks engineers to ensure existing business logic, dependencies, reconciliation rules, and runtime behavior are accurately understood and reproduced during migration.

What You Will Do

-

Work closely with the architect to review the existing Talend inventory and identify:

Job dependencies and hidden coupling
Shared routines
JARs and plugins
Joblets
Context groups
Custom components

-

Classify Talend jobs into simple, complex/custom, and difficult categories.

-

Identify and document:

Platform-specific protections and configurations
Custom Java implementations
Third-party components
Mainframe integrations
Kafka touchpoints

-

Review CodeCrafter-generated extracted logic across samples from each complexity category.

-

Validate, correct, or annotate inferred business rules before conversion activities begin.

-

Explain legacy Talend behavior to Databricks engineers, including:

Ambiguous expressions
Null and reject handling
Type coercion
Scheduling behavior
Job execution logic

-

Support Gate 1 source baselines by documenting:

How existing jobs are parameterized and executed
What existing run history indicates
Where current reconciliation logic resides

-

Participate in mismatch and reconciliation triage to determine whether variances are caused by:

Existing Talend behavior or quirks
Source or data issues
Conversion defects

-

Document findings and resolutions to support migration acceptance.

-

Advise on decommissioning sequencing to ensure Talend jobs are retired only after their Databricks equivalents have been successfully accepted.

Must-Have Skills

-

7+ years of hands-on experience with Talend Data Integration , including:

Talend Studio
TAC / TMC
tMap
tJava / tJavaRow
Routines
Context groups
Joblets
Custom components

-

Strong ability to read, understand, and explain Java code embedded within Talend jobs and routines.

-

Previous experience supporting a Talend decommissioning or migration to another data platform.

-

Ability to explain complex legacy Talend logic clearly to engineers who may not have prior Talend experience.

Strongly Preferred

-

Prior experience with payments or financial-services data flows .

-

Exposure to:

Talend ESB
Talend Data Quality
Talend MDM

-

Familiarity with Apache Spark and/or Databricks concepts , with the ability to bridge Talend and Databricks implementations.
