About the Role

Amazon is searching for a smart, motivated specialist to join its Law Enforcement Response (LER) team in India. The LER team is a dedicated group of specialists responsible for receiving, reviewing, and responding to law enforcement requests — such as notices, summons, and court orders — received from government agencies and police authorities across different Amazon India entities.

As an LER Specialist, your principal duty is to ensure that these requests are processed professionally and expeditiously, while safeguarding the privacy and security of business and customer information in accordance with the law and with Amazon’s policies and procedures. The role sits at the intersection of law[ and demands sound judgment in challenging and ambiguous situations.

This is a high-judgment, high-ownership role. You will lead a small team, serve as a trusted point of contact for law enforcement officers, and help Amazon meet its legal obligations in India’s rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. Candidates must be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently — at times with little supervision.

Key Job Responsibilities

Triage high request volumes. Receive, log, and process law enforcement information requests arriving through multiple channels, internal portal, the dedicated police-inquiries mailbox, the government portals.
Respond lawfully and accurately. Evaluate and respond to each request in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, and in accordance with the law and with Amazon’s policies and procedures.
Meet urgent SLAs. Triage and close requests in line with established SLAs and SOPs, recognizing that delayed responses can result in loss of customer trustin customers losing funds; periodically receive and process emergency requests on a set rotation, including outside normal business hours and sometimes overnight.
Manage external stakeholders. Communicate verbally and in writing with law enforcement officers, Amazon employees, and others — including significant phone-based coordination with officers who follow up on submitted requests. Explain what information Amazon can and cannot legally share, and guide officers on legally compliant intake formats (e.g., Section 94 BNSS notice requirements).
Lead a team. Manage and develop a team of 3 associates who actively process requests; help lead the training and development of other LER specialists.
Coordinate internally. Work with internal Amazon partner teams — some of whom run data queries to retrieve relevant information — and apply familiarity with data-retrieval concepts to challenge or validate the outputs you receive.
Use the right tools. Use a combination of web-based applications and data-extraction tools to compile information potentially responsive to a particular request.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, compliance playbooks, and process documentation
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and partner with engineering/product teams to develop tools and automation for legal compliance processes
Spot patterns. Assist in the identification of patterns and trends evident from the processing of certain law enforcement requests, and handle the most complex and challenging requests and special projects.
Authenticate evidence. Sign and issue certificates / letters to authenticate digital evidence in response to law enforcement requests.
Represent Amazon. Travel periodically, including on short notice, to represent Amazon in courts and law enforcement offices as required.

A Day in the Life

You will start your day reviewing incoming law enforcement requests from government agencies for validity, scope, and compliance requirements. You will exercise independent judgment to determine appropriate responses, balancing legal obligations with customer privacy and data security. Because a large share of information requests you will lean on your team to keep the queue healthy, partner with internal data teams to retrieve and validate information, and escalate the genuinely hard calls. It is fast-paced, operationally intense work where clear judgment and calm, credible communication make all the difference.

Basic Qualifications

6–10 years of relevant experience (e.g., law enforcement / regulatory response, legal operations, compliance, trust & safety, or high-volume operations).
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong judgment.
Experience working in fast-paced environments and managing workload even during times of stress or escalated activity.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities at once.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and manage external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience responding to, or making, requests from law enforcement agencies.
Demonstrated experience managing external law enforcement or regulatory communications.
Familiarity with high-volume operational tools and data systems; comfort with data-retrieval concepts (SQL proficiency is not required).
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Written and/or verbal proficiency in Hindi and/or any other Indian language.
Background in e-commerce, banking and financial services, or technology companies with trust & safety functions (e.g., Meta, Google).

Note: An LLB qualification is not required for this role.

What Sets a Strong Candidate Apart

The differentiating competency for this role is the ability to build trust with law enforcement officers while professionally pushing back. Officers can be demanding or aggressive, follow-ups come at all hours — including over weekends — and the right person stays composed, credible, and firm on what the law permits.

Builds genuine rapport with officers while holding the line on Amazon’s legal and privacy obligations.
Guides officers toward legally compliant intake formats (e.g., Section 94 BNSS notices) rather than simply rejecting flawed requests.
Exercises independent, defensible judgment on complex and novel request types.
Owns outcomes end-to-end and raises the bar for the team through coaching and clear process.

Additional Information

Rotation & on-call. This role includes a set rotation to receive and process emergency requests outside normal business hours, including overnight and weekends.
Background check. Given the sensitive nature of the work, candidates should expect a thorough background check. A strong track record of handling confidential information with discretion is a differentiator.
Education. An LLB is not required; demonstrated experience managing law enforcement or regulatory communications is valued over a specific educational background.
Location & work model. Full-time, Work From Office, based in Delhi NCR, India.
