About the job
Role Overview As a Business Analyst, you will bridge the gap between business needs, operations, and technical teams to design and continuously improve software products and business processes. You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, Data Analysts, and business stakeholders to translate complex business problems into clear, actionable requirements and functional specifications. You will take end-to-end ownership of requirements delivery—from analyzing business processes and gathering stakeholder feedback through functional documentation, workflow mapping, release validation, and continuous optimization. This role is suited for analytical professionals who combine strong problem-solving skills with process expertise, structured thinking, and business acumen, motivated to deliver solutions that generate measurable operational efficiency and business value. Key Responsibilities Analyze business processes, operational workflows, and stakeholder requirements before defining functional solutions. Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and business leaders to align technology solutions with business goals. Translate business goals and customer needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria. Drive requirements through the delivery lifecycle, from problem analysis and process mapping to sprint execution, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-implementation reviews. Facilitate requirements-gathering workshops, interviews, and feedback sessions with business and operational stakeholders. Conduct gap analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and impact assessments for proposed system and process changes. Partner with Product Designers and Engineers to ensure solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and user-friendly. Work closely with development teams during sprint planning, grooming, standups, and reviews to clarify business logic and edge cases. Define test scenarios, conduct functional verification, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business end-users. Monitor operational metrics, system usage data, and business KPIs to evaluate the success and ROI of delivered capabilities. Make pragmatic recommendations by balancing business value, project scope, delivery timelines, and operational risks. Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process maps. Business Analysis Expectations Demonstrate strong analytical rigor and structured problem-solving to uncover root causes rather than just surface-level symptoms. Focus on operational efficiency, user adoption, and measurable business outcomes. Proactively identify process bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and opportunities for workflow automation. Take accountability for the clarity, accuracy, and completeness of functional requirements. Communicate complex business logic, technical constraints, and operational trade-offs clearly to both technical teams and non-technical business leaders. Adapt to evolving business priorities and operate effectively in an iterative, agile environment. Toolkit & Capabilities Environment Candidates are not expected to have experience in every tool listed below. Strong analytical fundamentals, process mapping skills, and domain adaptability are more important than experience with a specific toolset. Requirements & Agile Management: Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Notion, Trello Process Mapping & Diagramming: Lucidchart, Microsoft Visio, Miro, Draw.io, Whimsical Data Analysis & Visualization: SQL, Excel/Google Sheets (advanced modeling), Tableau, Power BI, Looker Business Analysis Frameworks: BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation), UML, Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys), SWOT, Gap Analysis Prototyping & UX Wireframing: Balsamiq, Figma, Wireframe.cc Documentation & Testing: TestRail, Postman (basic API payload verification), MS Office / Google Workspace Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Solid understanding of business analysis frameworks, requirements engineering, and software development lifecycles (SDLC). Practical experience writing functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flowcharts. Proficiency in data querying and analysis using SQL and advanced spreadsheet tools. Strong structural problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business, operational, and technical development teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex business workflows clearly. Preferred Qualifications Experience working on end-to-end software delivery projects from initial discovery through UAT and launch. Business Analysis Certification (e.g., IIBA ECBA/CCBA/CBAP, PMI-PBA). Technical appreciation or basic understanding of APIs, databases, data modeling, and enterprise architecture. Direct experience leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions and managing end-user training. Experience in process optimization, automation, or re-engineering methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma). Exposure to cloud applications, SaaS platforms, or enterprise system integration projects (ERP/CRM). Success in prioritizing and managing conflicting demands from diverse stakeholder groups. Success in This Role Success in this role will be measured by the business analyst’s ability to: Deliver high-quality, clear, and unambiguous functional requirements that minimize rework for engineering. Map and streamline complex business processes to improve operational efficiency. Ensure high user adoption and stakeholder satisfaction through thorough UAT and rollout support. Maintain strong alignment between business goals and technical execution. Make balanced, data-informed recommendations that drive tangible business value and continuous process improvement.
