Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Costing to manage plant-level costing, financial analysis, inventory valuation, and cost optimisation activities at our Tumkur facility. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in the food processing industry, sound analytical capabilities, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to improve cost efficiency and support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Product Costing & Cost Analysis

Prepare and maintain product costing and standard cost sheets covering raw materials, packaging materials, labour, and manufacturing overheads.

Conduct actual versus standard cost variance analysis and identify key cost drivers.

Analyse material consumption, production yield, wastage, conversion costs, and manufacturing efficiencies.

Support new product costing, cost feasibility assessments, and profitability analysis.

Plant MIS, Budgeting & Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly plant MIS, costing reports, financial statements, and profitability analyses.

Support plant budgeting, forecasting, and periodic financial reviews.

Provide actionable insights on cost trends, variances, and operational performance to management.

Support month-end closing, audits, and other financial reporting requirements.

Inventory & Cost Control

Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, material consumption, and inventory-related costs.

Ensure accurate accounting of raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, as applicable.

Identify cost leakages, wastage, and opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of costing and financial data in Tally ERP.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Field Visits

Work closely with Production, Procurement, Stores, and other relevant teams to improve cost efficiency and inventory control.

Undertake visits to VLCC/BMCs and third-party manufacturing/product facilities, as required.

Travel approximately 20–25% of the time for operational reviews, data validation, and cost assessments.

Compliance & Process Improvement

Ensure adherence to company financial policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.

Strengthen costing processes, reporting accuracy, and financial discipline at the plant level.

Take ownership of deliverables and drive timely closure of costing and reporting activities.

Qualifications & Experience

B.Com or M.Com in Finance / Accounting is mandatory.

10+ years of relevant experience in Costing / Finance & Accounts, with hands-on experience in the food processing industry being mandatory .

CMA / CMA Inter qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

Strong practical knowledge of product costing, standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost control.

Working knowledge of Tally ERP and MS Excel.

Experience in plant finance, manufacturing MIS, budgeting, and cost optimisation.
