Role

Overview

The X-Ray Technician will be responsible for

carrying out chest X-ray examinations as part of the project’s TB screening and

diagnostic activities. The role involves operating X-ray equipment safely and

efficiently, ensuring appropriate patient positioning and image quality,

maintaining radiation safety standards, and supporting timely documentation and

referral of individuals requiring further evaluation.

The X-Ray Technician will work closely with the

District Coordinator, Clinician, field teams, public health facilities, and

relevant TB programme personnel to ensure smooth and timely delivery of X-ray

services at designated project sites, schools, health facilities, or community

locations.

Responsibilities

X-Ray

Imaging & Technical Support

Perform chest

X-ray examinations as per approved protocols and instructions from the

clinical/project team.

Operate X-ray

equipment safely and efficiently and ensure that appropriate exposure

parameters are used.

Ensure correct

positioning of individuals to obtain clear and diagnostically useful images.

Check image

quality and repeat examinations where technically necessary, while minimising

unnecessary radiation exposure.

Support mobile

or field-based X-ray screening activities, where required.

Ensure that

X-ray images are appropriately labelled, stored, and transferred for further

review.

Patient

Safety & Radiation Protection

Follow all

applicable radiation safety procedures and institutional protocols.

Ensure

appropriate use of personal protective equipment and radiation protection

measures.

Explain the

procedure clearly to individuals and address basic questions regarding the

examination.

Take

appropriate precautions for children, vulnerable individuals, and others

requiring additional support.

Immediately

report any equipment malfunction, safety concern, or incident to the designated

supervisor.

Documentation

& Reporting

Maintain

accurate records of all X-ray examinations conducted.

Maintain

screening registers, examination records, and other project documentation as

required.

Ensure timely

submission of daily/periodic activity reports to the designated project

supervisor.

Maintain

confidentiality of patient information, records, and diagnostic images.

Support

compilation of project data and documentation for monitoring and reporting

purposes.

Equipment

& Quality Maintenance

Conduct

routine checks of X-ray equipment and related accessories before use.

Report

equipment faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements promptly.

Ensure proper

handling, storage, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Follow quality

assurance procedures and applicable statutory and organisational requirements.

Maintain a

clean, safe, and organised working environment.

Field

& Team Support

Participate in

project screening camps, community activities, and other field-based diagnostic

activities as required.

Work closely

with field teams to ensure smooth patient flow and timely completion of X-ray

screening.

Provide

technical guidance to field staff on requirements for X-ray examination and

patient preparation.

Support other

project-related activities within the scope of the role, as required.

Qualifications

& Skills

Diploma/Bachelor’s

degree in Radiology, Radiography, Medical Imaging Technology, or a relevant

recognised qualification.

Minimum 4–7

years of relevant experience as an X-Ray Technician/Radiographer.

Experience in

conducting chest X-rays and supporting TB screening or other public health

programmes is desirable.

Experience

working in community-based, mobile, or field screening programmes will be an

advantage.

Knowledge of

radiation safety standards, patient positioning, and X-ray quality

requirements.

Ability to

work effectively with clinicians, field teams, public health personnel, and

community members.

Good

documentation and record-keeping skills.

Ability to

communicate effectively in English and the local language; knowledge of Hindi

would be an advantage for locations where required.

Willingness to

travel and work at different project locations, health facilities, schools, or

community sites as required.
