The role involves understanding business and technical requirements, preparing test strategies and test cases, executing functional and regression tests, developing and maintaining automated test suites, identifying defects, and collaborating with engineering and product teams to support the timely delivery of high-quality software. The ideal candidate should have 3–5 years of hands-on QA experience, with strong exposure to both manual testing and test automation in an Agile software-development environment. Experience and Education • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance and testing. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline. • Demonstrated experience in both manual and automation testing. • Experience working within Agile or Scrum-based software-development teams. • Experience testing web applications, APIs, backend services, and database-driven applications. Key Responsibilities • Review business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications to determine appropriate test coverage. • Prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and requirement traceability. • Perform manual testing across functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, and end-to-end testing areas. • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications, APIs, and backend services. • Identify suitable test cases for automation and progressively improve automated regression coverage. • Execute automated test suites, analyse failures, and distinguish genuine product defects from script, environment, or test-data issues. • Perform API testing and validation using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent technologies. • Validate application data and backend processing using SQL queries and database-testing techniques. • Log defects with clear reproduction steps, expected and actual results, supporting evidence, severity, and relevant technical details. • Track defects through their complete lifecycle and work closely with developers to support investigation, resolution, retesting, and closure. • Participate in defect triage meetings and communicate testing risks, blockers, progress, and results to relevant stakeholders. • Collaborate with Product Management, Business Analysts, Developers, DevOps engineers, and other QA team members to ensure that delivered functionality meets agreed requirements and quality standards. • Contribute to test estimation, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. • Support integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and analyse results from scheduled or pipeline-based test executions. • Conduct root-cause analysis for escaped defects, recurring failures, and gaps in test coverage. • Identify opportunities to improve test processes, automation frameworks, test environments, and overall delivery efficiency. • Maintain testing artefacts, execution evidence, reports, and other records required for internal quality reviews and audits. • Remain flexible when priorities, requirements, release schedules, or project circumstances change. • Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives and contribute to the adoption of QA best practices across the team. • Perform other quality-engineering responsibilities as assigned.
