About the job

The Analyst, Compliance Testing executes compliance monitoring and testing plans against regulatory requirements and documents the results. Testing covers areas such as consumer protection and disclosure, complaint handling, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing obligations, and privacy.

Most test attributes pass or fail on the evidence. Some do not: the evidence is partial, the requirement is open to interpretation, or a pass on the test hides a customer outcome that is plainly wrong. The analyst is expected to notice these, record what the evidence does and does not show, and raise them rather than force a result. These are the cases the role exists to get right.

Test plan design, final conclusions, and finding ratings remain. The analyst executes, documents, and drafts

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Test Execution

Execute approved test scripts against regulatory requirements, including sample selection, evidence gathering, and attribute testing.
Complete testing within the timelines set in the monitoring plan.
Raise evidence gaps or access issues early so the test is not delayed.

Documentation and Workpapers

Prepare workpapers that are complete, clearly referenced, and reperformable by a reviewer.
Record conclusions with the evidence and reasoning behind them — what was tested, what was found, and why it passes or fails.
Respond to reviewer comments promptly and close them out fully.

Findings and Judgement

Draft findings with condition, criteria, cause, and impact for review.
Separate a documentation gap from a substantive compliance failure, and say which it is.
Flag customer-outcome concerns observed during testing, even where the attribute technically passes.

Regulatory Knowledge

Maintain working knowledge of the regulatory requirements in scope, and help keep the obligations inventory mapped to tests.
Support updates to test scripts when regulatory requirements change.

Technical requirements

Required Skills and Experience

Experience executing testing or quality reviews against defined requirements and documenting results.
High attention to detail and consistency.
Constructive scepticism: tests the evidence rather than accepting the explanation, and stays even-handed. Assessed at interview through a case exercise.
Clear written English for workpapers and draft findings.
Strong Excel skills.

Preferred

Familiarity with the Canadian financial consumer protection framework, PCMLTFA obligations, and privacy legislation.
CAMS or a Canadian compliance designation, or progress toward one.
SQL for sample selection and data testing.
Experience with a GRC platform.
