We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst – Master Data to be based in Chennai, India.  Reporting to the Manager, Data Governance and Master Data, this role will be responsible for maintaining trusted account and customer master data across the Intellectual Property (IP) business. The role combines operational delivery, analytical investigation and continuous improvement, ensuring data quality, consistency and integrity across Salesforce and connected enterprise systems.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting business operations by managing account and customer master data, investigating complex data issues, maintaining governance controls and supporting strategic data initiatives

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Operations or a related discipline
Strong understanding of customer and account master data management principles
Experience managing account hierarchies, duplicate resolution, data cleansing and data enrichment activities
Experience investigating data quality issues and identifying root causes
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Experience performing data audits and analysing large datasets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Finance, Operations, Compliance and IT teams
Experience using Salesforce, Excel and reporting tools to investigate and resolve data issues
Ability to interpret and apply governance controls, business rules and documented procedures

It would be great if you also had . . .

Experience working with D&B or similar external company reference data providers
Experience using Tamr, NetSuite, SAP or comparable enterprise platforms
Experience supporting customer and account mastering processes.
Knowledge of data stewardship, governance controls and audit requirements
Experience documenting business rules, procedures and operational controls
Experience supporting business transformation, system implementation or integration initiatives
SQL or advanced analytical capabilities

What will you be doing in this role?

Create, validate, master and enrich account and customer records in accordance with defined business rules
Maintain account and customer hierarchies and identify and resolve duplicate records
Review master data requests against established governance controls and approval requirements
Ensure master data is accurate, complete, consistent, standardised and compliant
Investigate complex data quality issues, determine corrective actions and address recurring problems
Perform audits, monitor data quality measures and identify control gaps and improvement opportunities
Maintain governance documentation, decision records and audit trails, applying policies and frameworks consistently
Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, Compliance and IT to resolve data issues and support business requirements
Recommend effective account structures, customer records, hierarchy approaches, duplicate resolution and data quality improvements, escalating high-risk or high-impact decisions when appropriate
Improve operational efficiency and support new processes, governance controls and business or technology changes involving Salesforce, D&B, Tamr, NetSuite and SAP
Share best practices and provide master data subject matter expertise to colleagues and stakeholders.

About the Team

The team is responsible for maintaining trusted account and customer master data across business systems while ensuring alignment with enterprise governance standards and local business requirements. The team works closely with Sales Analytics, Finance, IT and operational stakeholders to ensure high-quality master data that supports business decision-making and operational effectiveness. Product master data remains centrally managed by IT

Hours of Work

This is a full-time role requiring 40 working hours per week based out of Chennai India (IST)
Work Mode-Hybrid as per Clarivate location
