We are looking for a Manager Data Governance to be based in Chennai, to lead the Intellectual Property (IP) Sales Operations master-data function.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Sales Operations, this role will be accountable for the strategy, operating model, governance framework and day-to-day delivery of account and customer master-data services across the IP business.

The successful candidate will lead a team of two Senior Data Governance Analysts and will be responsible for ensuring trusted, accurate and governed master data across Salesforce and connected enterprise systems. The role combines strategic leadership, operational management, governance oversight and continuous improvement to support business growth, operational efficiency and informed decision-making.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Operations or a related discipline
Ability to work across Sales, Finance, Operations, Compliance, IT, and other business functions
Previous experience leading a team, operational service or governance function
Strong practical knowledge of account and customer master-data management
Experience managing account hierarchies, duplicate resolution, data cleansing, enrichment and governance controls
Experience managing service levels, operational workloads, backlogs, quality measures and escalations
Ability to translate enterprise governance requirements into practical local policies, procedures and decision frameworks
Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience using Salesforce and external reference data such as D&B
Experience using reporting tools, Excel and analytical techniques to monitor quality and operational performance

It would be great if you also had . . .

Master's Degree, MBA or relevant professional qualification
Experience working with Tamr, NetSuite, SAP or similar enterprise platforms
Experience implementing governance controls, audit processes or data quality frameworks
Experience leading business transformation, system implementation or integration initiatives
Experience defining operating models, governance structures or stewardship frameworks
Understanding of data ownership, stewardship, auditability and decision-rights models
Experience leading process improvement and change management initiatives

What will you be doing in this role?

Lead the IP Sales Operations strategy, operating model and future direction for account and customer master data
Align IP policies, procedures, controls and decision frameworks with enterprise governance standards and business objectives
Own the timely and accurate delivery of account and customer master-data services
Oversee account creation, validation, enrichment, hierarchy management and duplicate resolution across Salesforce and connected platforms
Monitor service levels, workload, backlogs and operational performance to drive consistent execution and continuous improvement
Own data-quality standards and governance controls, monitoring trends to identify risks and control weaknesses
Make and document transparent, auditable master-data decisions, securing stakeholder approval when changes affect downstream processes or responsibilities
Build strong partnerships across Sales, Finance, Operations, Compliance, IT and other functions, with clear ownership boundaries and hand-offs
Act as the primary escalation point for complex master-data issues and clearly communicate decisions, risks and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership
Lead root-cause analysis and process improvements that strengthen data quality, efficiency and governance controls
Assess master-data impacts and coordinate testing, implementation and adoption for business and technology changes involving Salesforce, D&B, Tamr, NetSuite and SAP

Leadership Responsibilities:

Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Master Data team, promoting accountability, collaboration and a service-focused culture
Set clear priorities, objectives and performance measures aligned with Master Data and broader business goals
Direct and review the team’s work to ensure data quality, consistent standards and timely delivery against operational targets
Communicate and reinforce data governance policies, processes and responsibilities with stakeholders across the organization
Provide regular coaching, feedback, training and development opportunities to build team capability and support career growth
Support workforce planning, recruitment, staffing decisions and business continuity to maintain effective Master Data operations

About the Team

The team is responsible for maintaining trusted account and customer master data across business systems while ensuring alignment with enterprise governance standards and local business requirements. The team works closely with Sales Analytics, Finance, IT and operational stakeholders to ensure high-quality master data that supports business decision-making and operational effectiveness. Product master data remains centrally managed by IT

Hours of Work

This is a full-time role requiring 40 working hours per week based out of Chennai India (IST)
Work Mode-Hybrid as per Clarivate location
