Mission and Purpose - This role is focused on:

Providing analysis and support on moderately complex corporate and business segment compensation core processes, projects and initiatives
Assisting VP, Compensation - UHC to implement business segment compensation strategies, policies, programs, and communications within the corporate compensation philosophy framework
Assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of state-of-the-art corporate compensation programs and products and representing the business segments in corporate design efforts
Assisting UnitedHealth Group managers with compensation questions/issues through HRdirect
Enterprise-wide development and support of eCompensation tools

Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in multiple compensation ad hoc projects Independently leads moderately complex projects with only minor oversight
Participates on teams to develop eCompensation tools Acts as tool owner for ongoing maintenance and enhancement projects
Works independently on aspects of mergers and acquisitions
Works directly with Human Capital Partners on field initiated projects with minor oversight
Conducts annual analysis for compensation programs/policies such as salary ranges and salary increase budget and make recommendations
Participates in salary surveys conducted by third parties Works with selected vendors to facilitate custom surveys on behalf of UnitedHealth Group businesses
Prepares and publishes market data for use by business segments Analyses the data and highlights issues for the Director, Compensation - Business Segment
Evaluates new jobs for appropriate title and grade, typically at the non-exempt and non-management exempt levels
Responds to manager's compensation-related questions/issues through the HRdirect case management system
Develops complex queries, reports and analysis to meet customer requests
Ensure data integrity in HRIS system though direct actions and/or influence on the segments
Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Strategic Planning Support - Understands the business and business segment priorities Represents the compensation perspective to support the business from a cost/benefit perspective
Needs Assessment - Determine and provide clear, objective, and data based recommendations on moderately complex compensation related issues
Data and Trend Analysis - Research, monitor, and make recommendations based on best practices and analysis of internal and external data trends and literature Gathers and analyzes data to identify root causes of issues, successes, and trends
Change Management - Provide appropriate counsel and information to influence and change behavior of customers when appropriate

Required Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Business or Human Resources related field or equivalent compensation experience
3+ years (2+ years with a Masters Degree) of professional Human Resources experience (compensation experience preferred)
Specific technical expertise in a multiple of the following: Salary survey participation, market data analysis, leading moderately complex projects, job evaluation, salary range analysis, and HRIS reporting
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft or comparable ERP System
Solid history of quickly building relationships and gaining credibility with human capital peers
Demonstrated project management skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively within teams and across the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certifications, such as CCP
Experience working in a human resources shared service delivery model
Experience working in a matrix environment
