Employment type

Full-time

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to design, build and support enterprise analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, SQL and Power BI. The role combines hands-on data engineering with analytics engineering and business intelligence delivery. The successful candidate will build reliable data pipelines and dimensional models, develop and guide Power BI solutions, and contribute to the evolution of a governed medallion architecture without being expected to arrive as a fully formed enterprise data architect.

Key responsibilities

Data engineering and platform development (primary focus)

Design, develop, test and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern cloud data-platform technologies.

Build and support Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions that integrate data from ERP, project, engineering, operational and other enterprise systems.

Develop SQL-based transformations, views and reusable data-processing logic with appropriate error handling and documentation.

Implement data-quality checks, reconciliation controls, logging, monitoring and operational support procedures.

Investigate pipeline, refresh and performance issues and drive them through to evidence-based resolution.

Contribute to scalable storage, partitioning, incremental processing and workload-performance patterns where relevant.

Analytics engineering and dimensional modelling

Translate reporting and analytical requirements into maintainable fact and dimension models.

Develop reusable Gold-layer datasets and semantic models that provide consistent, business-ready measures and attributes.

Apply practical star-schema principles, including appropriate grain, keys, relationships and slowly changing dimension considerations.

Support common KPI definitions, conformed dimensions, data documentation and controlled change management.

Perform source-to-target mapping, data profiling, validation and impact analysis for new or changed data products.

Power BI delivery

Design and develop enterprise dashboards and reports when required, while providing technical guidance on Power BI modelling and design standards.

Create and review DAX measures, semantic models, Row-Level Security and report-performance improvements.

Promote reuse of governed models and reduce duplicated business logic across reports.

Support publishing, refresh, release and production support processes for Power BI solutions.

Technical leadership and collaboration

Lead technical design discussions for assigned solutions and explain trade-offs in clear, practical terms.

Mentor junior team members through code reviews, modelling guidance, troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.

Work with business stakeholders, product owners, architects and technical specialists to clarify requirements and delivery priorities.

Contribute to delivery standards, templates, documentation and continuous improvement across analytics engineering.

Required qualifications and experience

The following capabilities are essential for effective performance in the role:

? 6-10 years of relevant experience across data engineering, data warehousing, business intelligence or analytics engineering.

Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations, performance troubleshooting and systematic data validation.

Hands-on experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating data from multiple enterprise sources.

Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Databricks or another comparable modern data platform.

Hands-on Power BI experience covering semantic models, DAX, Power Query and report development or technical oversight.

Working knowledge of dimensional modelling, including fact tables, dimension tables, grain, relationships and star schemas.

Experience diagnosing production issues and supporting reliable scheduled data or reporting workloads.

Ability to lead assigned technical work, communicate with stakeholders and mentor less-experienced developers.

Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Good to have

These capabilities are valuable but are not mandatory. Candidates with strong transferable experience and the ability to learn are encouraged to apply.

Hands-on experience with Fabric Data Factory, pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Warehouse, notebooks or Direct Lake.

Experience implementing medallion architecture using Bronze, Silver and Gold layers.

Practical knowledge of incremental loading, watermarking, partitioning, orchestration, retry handling and pipeline observability.

Experience designing conformed dimensions, reusable Gold-layer data products or enterprise semantic models.

Experience with Spark, Python, PySpark, Delta tables or notebook-based transformations.

Experience with Git integration, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, deployment pipelines and environment promotion for Fabric or Power BI.

Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, data lineage, access controls, metadata management or broader data-governance practices.

Experience modernising legacy data warehouses, SQL reporting estates or on-premises analytics solutions.

Awareness of Kimball methodology, Data Vault concepts or other structured data-modelling approaches.

Preferred experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be viewed favourably:

Experience delivering enterprise analytics solutions in engineering, project delivery, project controls, operations, finance or supply chain environments.

Experience integrating ERP, engineering, project or operational datasets with complex business rules.

Experience working with distributed or global stakeholders and delivering through Agile or product-oriented teams.

Relevant Microsoft certification in Fabric, Azure Data Engineering or Power BI.

Experience establishing coding standards, peer-review practices, technical documentation or operational support runbooks.

Key competencies

Data engineering and structured problem solving

Pragmatic architecture and design judgement

Data modelling and analytical thinking

Technical leadership and mentoring

Stakeholder communication and facilitation

Quality, ownership and operational discipline

What success looks like

Deliver reliable, supportable data pipelines and analytics data products.

Enable trusted Power BI reporting through reusable models and consistent metrics.

Improve data quality, lineage, reconciliation and operational monitoring.

Increase adoption of standard Fabric and medallion patterns without over-engineering solutions.

Develop junior team capability through practical mentoring and review.

Ideal candidate profile

You are a hands-on senior practitioner who can move confidently between data pipelines, data models and Power BI. You bring sound engineering discipline and practical judgement rather than relying on a single technology. You can guide junior colleagues, work constructively with business and technical stakeholders, and help evolve modern analytics patterns while remaining focused on deliverable business outcomes.

Working approach

The role operates in a collaborative, international environment. We value evidence-based problem solving, clear documentation, reusable solutions, responsible handling of data and a continuous-improvement mindset. Detailed exposure to every technology listed is not expected; relevant transferable experience and demonstrated learning ability will be considered.
