About the job

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you'd like to help us build the future of work, this is your chance to make history.

Amazon's People eXperience and Technology (PXT) team is seeking a dynamic HR Business Partner to support our General & Administrative (G&A) organization in India on a 9-month fixed-term contract. This role is critical in driving our people strategy, delivering operational HR excellence, and enabling business outcomes for a diverse set of corporate functions.

As a HRBP for G&A, you will partner with senior leaders across functions such as Legal, Communications, Public Policy, and other corporate teams to design and execute people strategies that accelerate business priorities. You will operate as a trusted advisor — balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution — in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly matrixed environment. Successful candidates will bring a strong consulting mindset, deep HR expertise, and the ability to influence without authority across organizational boundaries.

Key job responsibilities

Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness

Drive talent management strategies that build a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive workforce across G&A functions in India
Coach and develop leaders at all levels on effective people management practices, including performance management, career development, and difficult conversations
Lead organizational design and restructuring efforts to improve spans, layers, and operational efficiency

Employee Experience & Engagement

Champion a positive employee experience by designing and executing engagement strategies tailored to the G&A population in India
Establish feedback mechanisms and leverage employee listening tools to identify trends, address concerns, and build trust
Drive programs that enhance belonging, inclusion, and psychological safety within the G&A organization
Act as a culture steward — reinforcing Amazon's Leadership Principles while adapting approaches to the local India context

Data-Driven Decision Making

Leverage HR analytics and workforce data to identify emerging trends, forecast challenges, and drive evidence-based recommendations
Build and present data narratives for leadership reviews, org health assessments, and strategic planning sessions

Employee Relations & Compliance

Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes
Navigate complex ER situations with sound judgment, discretion, and a bias toward resolution

A day in the life

Your day will be a blend of strategic counsel and operational execution. You might start the morning coaching a Director through a difficult team restructure, followed by reviewing attrition data to identify retention risks across G&A functions. Post-lunch, you could be facilitating a talent calibration session, then pivoting to advise on an employee relations case. You'll close the day connecting with your PXT peers to share best practices and align on cross-functional initiatives. No two days look the same — and that's what makes this role exciting.

Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, strong business acumen, the ability to influence senior stakeholders, and a relentless focus on delivering results through people.

Basic qualifications

Experience working with global teams, driving organizational change initiatives, and developing talent management plans for a global organization
Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on HR business partnering in a corporate or G&A environment
- Experience partnering with senior leadership (Director+ level) in a matrixed, multinational organization
- Demonstrated ability to use HR data and analytics to drive decisions and influence business leaders

Preferred qualifications

Master's degree in HR Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related fields
