About the job
Job Title- : DevOps Engineer Position type- Full Time Work Location- Gurgaon Working style- Hybrid Shift Time- 10PM to 7PM People Manager role: No Required education and certifications critical for the role- bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, Data Science, Business, or related field. Required years of experience – 4-6 years of work experience in relevant field AON IS IN THE BUSINESS OF BETTER DECISIONS At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organization, we are committed to our purpose as one firm, united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE: About the Role As a DevOps Engineer within the Assessment Solutions business, you will own the delivery infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and platform operations that keep the Aon Assessment Platform running reliably at scale. The Aon Assessment Platform is the enterprise solution for accurate and fair workforce assessments used by millions of participants worldwide — the infrastructure you build and maintain is what makes that scale possible. You will work across multiple engineering squads (Germany and India), ensuring that every team has fast, reliable, and secure delivery pipelines, and that the platform's cloud infrastructure is observable, cost-efficient, and resilient. You are a hands-on practitioner: writing Terraform, maintaining Kubernetes configurations, building pipeline templates, and driving the automation that reduces toil and increases engineering throughput. Above all, this role requires strong systems thinking. Our platform is deeply interconnected, and infrastructure decisions have wide downstream effects on reliability, security, and delivery speed. You must be able to reason about those effects and design infrastructure that the whole engineering group can depend on. Key Responsibilities CI/CD Pipeline Engineering Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps that serve multiple engineering squads building on different release cadences. Own pipeline templates and shared workflow components — ensuring consistent, reusable patterns across squads rather than per-team divergence. Integrate automated testing (unit, integration, API spec validation) into pipelines so quality gates run at the right point in every delivery workflow. Maintain and improve build performance — reducing pipeline duration and queue times to keep squad delivery velocity high. Enforce API governance in delivery: pipelines validate implementations against OpenAPI specifications before merge and deployment. Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes Own the platform's Azure infrastructure: AKS clusters, networking, storage, identity, and supporting services — defined and managed as code using Terraform. Manage Kubernetes workloads across environments (development, staging, production): deployments, resource allocation, autoscaling, and health management. Design and maintain environment promotion workflows that give squads reliable, consistent progression from development through to production. Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls: network policies, managed identities, secret management (Azure Key Vault), and RBAC. Monitor infrastructure costs and drive efficiency improvements — right-sizing resources, identifying waste, and contributing to cloud spend targets. Observability & Reliability Build and maintain observability tooling across the platform: metrics, logging, distributed tracing, and alerting (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent). Define and implement SLI/SLO frameworks in collaboration with Engineering Team Leads and Solution Architects, ensuring the platform can demonstrate reliability against defined targets. Own incident response for infrastructure-layer events: diagnosing, communicating, and resolving outages with clear post-incident reviews and preventive actions. Drive reliability improvements — identifying single points of failure, improving resilience patterns, and reducing mean time to recovery. Engineering Enablement & Standards Work closely with Solution Architects and Engineering Team Leads to ensure application architecture is deployable, observable, and operable — raising infrastructure requirements early in the design process, not after delivery. Define and maintain infrastructure-as-code standards: Terraform module structure, naming conventions, state management, and code review practices. Build internal documentation and runbooks that give squads and support teams the operational knowledge they need to work independently. Evaluate and introduce tooling improvements that raise engineering throughput and platform quality — with a pragmatic eye for adoption, not novelty. AI-Augmented Engineering Use AI tools in your day-to-day work — for infrastructure design, pipeline authoring, incident investigation, and documentation — and apply them effectively and responsibly. This is a core expectation, not a nice-to-have. Identify where AI-assisted tooling can reduce toil, accelerate root cause analysis, and improve infrastructure quality. Required Skills & Experience 4–6 years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering experience on a large-scale SaaS or enterprise platform. Strong, production-proven experience with Azure: AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Container Registry, Azure Key Vault, networking, and managed identities. Deep hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code: module design, state management, and code review practices at team scale. Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps across multiple squads or products. Solid Kubernetes expertise: workload management, autoscaling, networking, and operational troubleshooting. Strong understanding of infrastructure security: network policies, RBAC, secret management, and least-privilege access design. Experience with observability tooling and a practical understanding of SLI/SLO/SLA frameworks. Excellent analytical and systems thinking — able to reason about the downstream infrastructure impact of application architecture decisions. Strong communication skills: able to explain infrastructure constraints and tradeoffs clearly to engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders. Day-to-day use of AI tools in infrastructure and engineering work. This is a core expectation, not a nice-to-have. Nice to Have Experience with messaging and mediation frameworks relevant to the platform (e.g., Wolverine, Azure Service Bus). Familiarity with API governance tooling — integrating OpenAPI spec validation into pipelines. Experience with contract testing or consumer-driven contract frameworks in a microservices context. Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation at meaningful scale. Experience supporting globally distributed engineering teams working across multiple time zones. Familiarity with .NET / ASP.NET Core application deployment patterns at the infrastructure level. 2584003
