Role Summary: The Student Counsellor will play a key role in promoting the socio-emotional, academic, and overall wellbeing of students. The role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel heard, understood, and empowered to navigate academic, emotional, social, and developmental challenges. The Counsellor will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to identify needs early, provide appropriate support, strengthen student resilience, and contribute to a positive school culture. Responsibilities: Provide confidential, age-appropriate counselling for emotional, social, behavioural, and personal concerns. Build students’ self-awareness, resilience, emotional regulation, and coping skills. Identify emerging concerns and facilitate timely support or referral. Support students with academic stress, motivation, study habits, and performance concerns. Encourage healthy learning habits, goal-setting, and positive engagement with school. Support students through key academic and developmental transitions. Help students navigate peer relationships, conflict, bullying, peer pressure, and social adjustment. Develop life skills including communication, empathy, decision-making, and problem-solving. Promote a culture of belonging, inclusion, respect, and psychological safety. Work sensitively with parents to understand and support student wellbeing. Collaborate with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for individual student needs. Conduct age-appropriate wellbeing sessions and workshops on resilience, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and life skills. Recognise and appropriately escalate safeguarding and wellbeing concerns in line with school protocols. Coordinate with external professionals when specialist support is required. Maintain appropriate, confidential records and uphold professional ethics and boundaries. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Education, or a related field. Training in child/adolescent counselling, student wellbeing is desirable. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
