Primary Responsibilities:

Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL database environments across development, testing, and production platforms
Design, implement, and support highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions on Microsoft Azure
Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, and performance tuning activities
Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex PostgreSQL SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and scripts
Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability using Azure monitoring and database management tools
Implement and manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions
Support Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and related cloud services
Analyze database workloads and recommend indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies
Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support application deployments and database releases
Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages such as PostgreSQL SQL, Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Terraform
Ensure database security through role-based access controls, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with organizational standards
Develop and maintain database standards, operational runbooks, technical documentation, and best practices
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, performance bottlenecks, replication issues, and data integrity concerns
Support cloud migration initiatives involving on-premises and Azure-hosted database platforms
Participate in on-call support and production issue resolution activities as required
Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in Database Administration with a focus on PostgreSQL
Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL and other Azure cloud services
Experience with database migration, upgrade, and patch management processes
Experience implementing backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
Experience with Linux and/or Windows server administration supporting database platforms
Knowledge of database security best practices, user management, encryption, and auditing
Familiarity with monitoring and performance management tools
Solid expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication, and troubleshooting
Solid SQL and PostgreSQL scripting skills, including query optimization and performance analysis
Demonstrated solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
