About the job

Netradyne harnesses the power of Computer Vision and Edge Computing to revolutionize the modern-day transportation ecosystem. We are a leader in fleet safety solutions. With growth exceeding 4x year over year, our solution is quickly being recognized as a significant disruptive technology. Our team is growing, and we need forward-thinking, uncompromising, competitive team members to continue to facilitate our growth.

Role Summary

The Infra-Dev team builds the software that runs Netradyne's cloud infrastructure. We write the internal platforms, automation and AI agents that DevOps, Database and engineering teams use every day: cloud cost analytics and anomaly detection, self-service service provisioning on AWS, an internal developer platform on Kubernetes, database access and upgrade automation, S3 data lifecycle and retention, and agentic tooling for infrastructure operations and on-call.

We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership for Infra-Dev. You will own the team's technical goals and major platforms, decide how new initiatives are approached, and stay hands-on in design and code. You bring wide-ranging experience across cloud infrastructure, software engineering, databases and cost management, and you understand how these disciplines affect one another.

Role and Responsibilities

Act as technical owner and architect for Infra-Dev's major platforms: the cloud operations and cost platform, the service provisioning tooling, the internal developer platform and infrastructure AI agents.
Lead the design and delivery of multi-quarter initiatives such as containerising services onto Kubernetes (EKS), GitOps-based internal developer platforms, an infrastructure registry of service and resource dependencies, and infrastructure-as-code standardisation.
Decide the methods, tools and standards for new assignments, including build-vs-buy evaluations, technology selection and migration plans.
Lead cloud cost management (FinOps) engineering: cost allocation and unit economics (for example, cost per device or per feature), forecasting, anomaly detection, Savings Plans and Reserved Instance coverage, and COGS/OpEx reporting for engineering and finance leadership.
Act as a technical point of contact for Finance and cloud vendors (AWS account and TAM teams, tooling vendors) on cost analysis, forecasts, commitments and renewals.
Own the architecture of data lifecycle and storage-cost programs for petabyte-scale S3 data: retention policies, storage-class transitions, data retirement and safe deletion with customer-specific exceptions.
Run the team's recurring cost and operations reviews, turning findings into prioritised engineering work and measurable savings.
Define the architecture for agentic infrastructure operations: triage and on-call agents, MCP gateways and human-in-the-loop approvals, with clear security guardrails.
Set standards for database and access automation across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, OpenSearch, ClickHouse and DynamoDB, working closely with the Database team.
Provide architecture guidance on shared infrastructure that DevOps and Database teams depend on, including logging pipelines, internal PKI and certificates, Kubernetes secrets management and device-to-cloud ingestion (IoT, Kinesis Video Streams).
Drive security and compliance-by-default in infrastructure tooling: least-privilege IAM, credential lifecycle, secrets management, tagging and audit reporting.
Lead architecture and design reviews, RFCs and technical decisions for Infra-Dev, and review designs from DevOps and Database teams where they intersect.
Identify and address scalability, reliability, cost and security risks across the infrastructure stack before they become incidents.
Lead investigation of complex production issues that cross application, database, network and cloud layers, and drive lasting fixes.
Plan sprints and roadmaps with engineering leadership: break down work, manage dependencies, track delivery and report progress with team metrics.
Make sure critical knowledge is written down: design documents, runbooks and ownership maps for every system the team runs.
Mentor and grow engineers through design guidance, code reviews and career coaching.
Take part in hiring, interviews and onboarding for the Infra teams.

Essential Skills

8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including significant experience building infrastructure, platform, DevOps or SRE software at scale.
Expert programming skills in Python and/or Go, with a strong record of production-quality code and code review.
Deep, hands-on AWS expertise across compute, networking, IAM, storage, databases, messaging and billing, including multi-account and multi-cluster environments.
Strong experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and the cloud-native ecosystem: Helm, Argo CD, Crossplane, service networking and autoscaling.
Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Terragrunt or equivalent) and designing reusable modules and golden paths.
Strong experience designing CI/CD pipelines and safe deployment strategies across multiple environments.
Strong understanding of distributed systems: reliability, fault tolerance, idempotency, retries and capacity planning.
Strong understanding of database operations and internals for relational and NoSQL data stores.
Experience with cloud cost management, including cost data pipelines, cost allocation and commitment-based discounts.
Proven ability to determine methods and approaches on new, loosely defined assignments and to evaluate trade-offs across many variables.
Proven technical leadership: driving multi-person initiatives and mentoring engineers while staying hands-on.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs, risks and cost impact to engineering and business leaders.

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience building LLM agents and AI platforms (AWS Bedrock, Strands or LangGraph, MCP, vector databases, agent observability).
Experience building internal developer platforms or platform-engineering products used by many teams.
Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, OpenTelemetry or the ELK stack.
Experience with Snowflake, data warehouses and forecasting or anomaly detection techniques (e.g., Prophet, regression models).
Experience with IoT or device platforms and large-scale data ingestion.
Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude, Cursor and GitHub Copilot.

Leadership & Management Expectations

Act as the senior technical leader and approver for Infra-Dev, and own team goals for its tactical business targets.
Support the decisions and goals of the wider Infrastructure function (DevOps, Database and Infra-Dev); your work is reviewed on completion.
Understand how infrastructure, application engineering, security and finance depend on one another, and design solutions that work across them.
Direct how existing engineering principles are applied in Infra-Dev, and guide the development of new infrastructure policies and standards.
Build a culture of engineering quality, ownership, automation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Typically requires 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6+ years with a Master's degree, or a PhD with 3+ years of experience.
