Job Description: Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures & Frame Specialist)

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, high-ownership Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in vehicle structures, load-bearing frames, and heavy machinery chassis . In this full-time, on-site role at our Nelamangala facility in Bengaluru, you will lead end-to-end structural design—from initial concept sketching to CAD modeling, stress verification, prototyping, and shop-floor deployment for electric tractors and off-road agricultural/construction equipment.

Core Responsibilities (Structural Focus)

Structural Design & Engineering : Conceptualize and design robust vehicle frames, chassis, weldments, sheet metal structures, and load-bearing sub-assemblies for heavy-duty off-road applications.

3D CAD & Detailing : Create detailed, fabrication-ready 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T, weld specifications, and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SolidWorks .

Structural Calculations & Verification : Perform structural mechanics calculations (bending, shear, fatigue, load balancing) and FEA verification (Structural, Modal, Fatigue) in SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.

DFM / DFA / DFS for Weldments : Apply Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Service principles to optimize structural steel, tubular frames, and welded joints for durability and cost efficiency.

Hands-on Prototyping & Shop-Floor Integration : Work directly on the shop floor with assembly teams to build structural prototypes, evaluate field test failures, and rapidly iterate on structural improvements.

Cross-Functional System Integration : Coordinate with powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical teams to properly package drive systems, battery packs, and actuators onto the main chassis.

Key Qualifications & Technical Requirements

Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience : 3+ years of core experience designing structural frames, chassis, or heavy weldments for off-road machinery, farming equipment, construction vehicles, or commercial automotive.

Expert CAD Proficiency : Expert-level mastery of SolidWorks (mandatory, with strong emphasis on Weldments, Sheet Metal, and Assembly modules).

Strong Engineering Fundamentals : Deep knowledge of strength of materials, structural mechanics, load distribution, joint design, and fatigue failure analysis.

FEA Knowledge : Hands-on capability with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS to run basic-to-intermediate structural stress and modal analyses.

Candidate Qualities & Work Culture Fit

Hands-on & Hungry : High drive, problem-solving mindset, and passion for building physical machines rather than sitting in a pure 9-to-5 role.

High Ownership & Flexibility : Highly committed during critical delivery milestones and product rollouts. Flexible work style with compensatory leaves offered for extended crunch periods.

On-Site Presence : Comfortable working on-site at the Nelamangala plant to stay close to prototyping, testing, and production line operations.

Professional Communication : Clear, professional communication and presentation skills.
