About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator with 7–10 years of experience in database administration, with hands-on expertise in DB2 and Informix and knowledge of Oracle and other relational database technologies.

Based at SP Infocity, Pune , this role will support database operations and critical production activities, working closely with application teams to maintain service stability and availability. You will contribute to performance optimisation, automation, proactive monitoring, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, AI-driven optimisation initiatives, service governance and continual service improvement across CRM and end-to-end operations.

The role requires advanced UNIX knowledge, database performance tuning expertise and the ability to provide on-call support for high-priority database incidents.

What you will do

Administer and support  DB2 and Informix production databases , including high-availability environments.
Analyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including issues arising from scripts, code and user-generated queries.
Perform database and SQL performance tuning and support DML operations.
Manage database upgrades and migrations, including integrations with other RDBMS platforms.
Support database configuration, operational administration, backup and recovery activities.
Manage user access and contribute to security audits.
Monitor and participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities.
Work closely with application teams to support database operations and critical production activities.
Provide on-call support for high-priority database issues.
Use monitoring and observability platforms such as Enterprise Manager, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.
Perform log analysis, alert tuning, dashboard development and proactive monitoring.
Develop and maintain UNIX, shell and other scripts to automate BAU operational activities and improve system stability.
Manage jobs and batch processes, tune existing processes and create new processes where required.
Use ticketing tools to manage operational activities and incidents.
Apply SRE practices, proactive monitoring, reconciliation and automation to improve operational efficiency.
Contribute to service governance, end-to-end service stability, availability and continual improvement.

Who you are

You have  7–10 years of relevant application database support and administration experience , including at least seven years of proficient application database support operations experience.
You have hands-on experience administering DB2 and Informix databases.
You have expert knowledge of DB2, Informix or Oracle databases.
You understand Oracle and non-Oracle database architecture.
You have experience with database and SQL performance tuning .
You understand database memory, storage and cluster architectures.
You have experience configuring databases and supporting production database operations.
You have advanced UNIX skills and practical knowledge of shell scripting and at least one additional scripting language, such as Perl.
You understand database upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery, user access management and security auditing.
You have experience with proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.
You have exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk, Zabbix, Grafana or Enterprise Manager.
You bring analytical, communication, stakeholder-management and technical-leadership capabilities.
You hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent relevant professional experience.
ITIL certification is desirable.
Knowledge of the telecommunications sector would be an advantage.
