Position Summary...

We are looking for Staff Engineer who can drive design, architecture & delivery of our next generation platforms keeping scalability, robustness, and security aspects in focus. The platforms you build will be used for marketing, AD delivery & customer engagement across multiple countries with each of them being a multibillion-dollar business for Walmart. You will be challenged with unparalleled complex business problems that spans across multiple countries and substantial number of users & data.

This business closely partners with our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to serve customers by empowering associates, stores and merchants with technology innovation. rom grocery and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. provides the deep assortment that our customers appreciate — whether they're shopping online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps or shopping in a store. The focus areas include customer, stores and associates, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science and search & personalization.

Our team is responsible for design, development, and operations of large-scale orchestration system operating high scale. We interact with multiple teams across the company to provide scalable robust technical solutions.

What you'll do:

Full Stack Development: Spend 60% of your time engaging in hands-on coding, performing thorough code reviews, debugging, and optimizing both frontend and backend code. Ensure high code quality and adherence to best practices across the stack.

Frontend Expertise: Utilize your proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack to build responsive and dynamic user interfaces. Ensure seamless user experiences and maintain design consistency.

Backend Expertise: Leverage your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes to develop robust and scalable backend services. Implement an efficient microservices architecture and ensure seamless integration with frontend applications.

Mentoring & Learning: Provide mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Lead by example and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.

Architecture & Design: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, make strategic architectural decisions, and maintain comprehensive documentation. Drive the architectural vision for both front-end and backend systems.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences and ensure seamless integration. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments.

App Health, Quality, and Performance: Prioritize application quality, respond swiftly to feedback, improve performance, and address critical issues proactively. Implement best practices for monitoring and maintaining application health.

Tech Initiatives & Innovation: Lead and contribute to technological advancements and innovation within the team. Champion new ideas and drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

Time Management & Planning: Develop detailed project timelines, manage tasks efficiently, and practice effective time management. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality projects.

Engineering Excellence: Focus on meticulous, detail-oriented work, conducting rigorous code reviews, and resolving complex technical challenges. Uphold the highest standards of engineering excellence.

Leadership: Provide strategic technical guidance, lead and manage projects, and coordinate with other teams to achieve successful outcomes. Exhibit strong leadership qualities and mentor junior team members.

What you'll bring:

10+ years of experience in design and development of highly scalable applications and platform development.

Experience with Java for backend services, including extensive experience with Spring Boot.

Experience in front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack.

Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture.

Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with containerization tools like Kubernetes.

Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as caching solutions.

Experience working in platform teams or building shared tools and frameworks for other developers.

Proven ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Prior experience with cloud-native technologies (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead projects and mentor junior team members.

Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms.

Contributions to open-source projects or active involvement in internal platform evangelism.
