What Does a Houdini Technical Artist do at WPP Production?

At WPP Production, this role combines advanced Houdini expertise, strong knowledge of dynamics and simulations, and generalist skills in lighting and product animation to create high-end automotive and product visualizations for advertising. Responsibilities include delivering premium-quality work under tight deadlines, optimizing and troubleshooting Houdini scenes, providing technical support, and contributing to workflow improvements, pipeline development, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the studio.

Key Responsibilities

Create high-quality CG content for automotive and product advertising.

Build Houdini procedural setups and support simulations such as RBD, Vellum, particles, and basic fluids.

Assist with lighting, look development, rendering, and product animation.

Work with Houdini Solaris and USD for scene assembly, lighting, and rendering workflows.

Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize scenes for production efficiency.

Collaborate with artists and supervisors to meet creative and technical requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

2 - 4 years of experience with SideFX Houdini.

Good understanding of procedural workflows, geometry processing, and simulations.

Basic working knowledge of Houdini Solaris and USD , with experience contributing to at least one project using these workflows.

Experience with V-Ray rendering and a good understanding of lighting and look development.

Familiarity with Maya and/or 3ds Max.

Understanding of product animation, materials, reflections, and realistic lighting.

Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

Basic Python or VEX scripting skills.

Familiarity with Unreal Engine and Nuke.

Experience in automotive or product visualization.

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) - 6 Months.
