Job Description: SAP ABAP Workflow Developer
Experience: 4–6 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Workflow Developer with strong expertise in SAP Business Workflow, ABAP development and workflow integration . The candidate will design, develop, enhance and support workflow solutions across SAP business processes while ensuring performance, reliability and timely issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, configure and support SAP Business Workflow solutions.
Analyse business requirements and convert functional specifications into technical designs.
Develop and maintain:
Workflow templates
Standard and custom tasks
Business objects
Events and event linkages
Rules and agent determination
Work items and approval processes
Configure multi-level approval workflows based on business requirements.
Develop workflows using Business Object Repository and ABAP Classes .
Implement workflow triggering through:
Business events
Change documents
Message control
Custom programs
User exits, BAdIs and enhancement frameworks
Configure dynamic agent determination using:
Rules
Responsibilities
Organisational structures
Function modules
ABAP classes
Develop deadline monitoring, reminders, escalations and substitute approval mechanisms.
Configure workflow inboxes and support SAP Business Workplace and Fiori My Inbox .
Develop supporting ABAP objects, including reports, function modules, classes, enhancements and interfaces.
Perform workflow testing, debugging and technical issue resolution.
Monitor and troubleshoot failed or delayed workflows using standard SAP workflow tools.
Analyse workflow logs, event traces, work-item statuses and background jobs.
Support integration testing, user acceptance testing and production deployment.
Resolve production incidents and conduct root-cause analysis.
Prepare technical specifications, unit-test documents and deployment instructions.
Follow SAP development, security, transport and documentation standards.
Coordinate with functional consultants, business users and other technical teams.
Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to junior developers.
Required Technical Skills
4–6 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
Strong experience in SAP Business Workflow configuration and development.
Hands-on knowledge of:
Workflow Builder
Business Object Builder
Workflow tasks and templates
Events and event linkages
Agent determination
Workflow containers and bindings
Deadline monitoring and escalation
Experience with workflow administration and troubleshooting transactions such as:
SWDD
SWI1
SWIA
SWEL
SWELS
SWU3
PFTC
SWUE
Strong knowledge of object-oriented ABAP, classes, methods, interfaces and exception handling.
Experience with ABAP Dictionary, reports, function modules, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs and enhancements.
Good understanding of SAP organisational management and responsibility-based approvals.
Experience in workflow performance analysis, error handling and production support.
Ability to prepare technical specifications from functional requirements.
Good understanding of SAP transport and change management processes.
Preferred Skills
Experience with workflows in ECC & SAP S/4HANA .
Hands-on experience with Fiori My Inbox configuration and integration.
Knowledge of flexible workflows for SAP S/4HANA business processes.
Experience with OData services and SAP Gateway.
Familiarity with CDS Views and ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse.
Experience with email notifications, extended notifications and workflow alerts.
Knowledge of workflows related to:
Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
Vendor and Customer Master Data
Finance document approvals
Sales Orders
Leave and Timesheet approvals
Service Entry Sheets
Exposure to SAP BTP Workflow or SAP Build Process Automation is an advantage.
Experience working in Agile delivery and application support environments.
Functional and Business Skills
Ability to understand approval processes and convert them into scalable workflow solutions.
Ability to identify workflow gaps, dependencies and exception scenarios.
Strong coordination skills across business, functional and technical teams.
Good understanding of compliance, authorisation and segregation-of-duties requirements.
Ability to manage multiple workflow developments and production issues simultaneously.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
SAP ABAP, SAP Workflow or SAP S/4HANA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
