As part of the Technology & Transformation practice, Deloitte’s dedicated public finance & economics practice offers specialized consulting services to governments across India and the Asia Pacific. We collaborate closely with other Deloitte firms in Africa and the Middle East, bringing a global perspective to regional challenges.
Public finance & economics is pivotal to a nation's development, focusing on the taxation and expenditure of government organizations and economic growth & development of states/countries across globe. As public financial management & economics evolves, it has become a powerful tool for driving public sector performance and enhancing transparency and accountability in policy-making and implementation.
Our team provides expert advisory services in Macro-fiscal analysis & forecasting, Fiscal Policy, Public Expenditure Reforms, Revenue Administration Reforms, ICT (Information & Communications Technology) in public financial management, Medium-Term Expenditure Frameworks, and Government Debt Management.
Your work profile
•You’ll tackle a wide spectrum of client challenges in financial management, fiscal policy, budgeting, revenue administration, and economic and fiscal data analysis for clients, including public sector institutions and governments at all levels. You’ll also work with global funding agencies such as the World Bank, ADB, and USAID.
•In addition to developing solutions and recommendations, you’ll play an active role in implementing them alongside the client, ensuring impactful outcomes. Continuous learning—both at a team and individual level—will be a key aspect of your role, and we will ensure that you enjoy the process along the way.
Your Prime Responsibilities
•Project Delivery: Support project teams by preparing reports, conducting client meetings, and contributing to research, analysis, and ideation exercises. Work across diverse teams, understanding client needs, project scope, and deliverables while adhering to the Assess-Design-Develop-Deliver-Monitor process.
•Business Development: Conduct sector research, track opportunities, prepare client presentations, analyze client requirements, develop proposals, and contribute to business growth strategies.
•Practice Development: Actively engage in learning and development initiatives and serve as a change agent within the team, project, or organization.
•Thought Leadership: Research and deliver thought leadership reports, both global and domestic, capturing Deloitte’s unique perspectives on topical issues, with guidance from senior practitioners.
•Collaboration: Coordinate with other verticals, groups, and global teams to ensure the successful pursuit and delivery of projects.
Skills and Qualifications
•A strong educational background, with a post-graduation in economics, statistics, public policy, management, or CA.
•Knowledge of public finance, macroeconomics, and statistics.
•Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to leveraging resources for optimal solutions.
•Self-motivated, team-oriented, and adaptable to change.
•Ability to work across sectors with flexibility for extensive travel and client-site work.
•Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, essential for effective interaction with stakeholders.
•Proficiency in economic and fiscal analysis, with advanced MS Excel skills. Knowledge of statistical packages such as Stata, R, or Python is a plus.
•Strong research and analytical capabilities, including macroeconomic modeling.
•Excellent report-writing skills and an ability to quickly adapt to new concepts.
•Out-of-the-box thinking and a collaborative mindset.
Location
You will be based out of Gurgaon office but should be prepared for extensive long-term travel to project locations.
