Job Summary
We are seeking an enterprise-level Senior CommerceLayer Business Analyst to bridge the gap between complex global business requirements and modern, composable headless technical solutions. In this high-seniority role, you will be the core functional authority responsible for discovering, defining, and governing business processes utilizing the CommerceLayer platform.
You will lead technical discovery sessions, orchestrate scoping workshops, translate cross-functional business vision into production-ready product backlogs, and define precision acceptance criteria. Working directly with product managers, solution architects, and engineering pods, you will ensure that multi-market commerce definitions, global checkout operations, inventory flows, and downstream ERP syncs align perfectly with CommerceLayer capabilities.
Dedicated CommerceLayer & BA Functional Experience Breakdown
To ensure flawless operational logic, precise scope management, and optimized business workflows, candidates must meet the exact experience parameters defined across the following core functional and analytical domains:
•Requirements Gathering, Blueprinting & Functional Solutioning
•Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years
•Focus Areas: Translating high-level eCommerce initiatives into comprehensive functional specification documents (FSDs), capabilities matrices, and process flow diagrams; mapping complex enterprise requirements explicitly to out-of-the-box CommerceLayer primitives vs. custom microservice extensions; and identifying upstream/downstream data dependencies across PIM, OMS, and CRM systems.
•Stakeholder Workshop Management & Discovery Facilitation
•Experience Required: Minimum 4 Years
•Focus Areas: Planning, executing, and leading technical discovery workshops, Event Storming sessions, and design-thinking routines; aligning multi-regional stakeholders on uniform business definitions; and guiding non-technical commercial leads through the capabilities and architectural shifts of a headless ecosystem.
•CommerceLayer Core Resource Configuration & Domain Mapping
•Experience Required: Minimum 3 Years
•Focus Areas: Deep functional knowledge of the CommerceLayer dashboard and resource engine to configure and validate multi-tenant settings; defining global Market segmentation rules, Stock Location fallback hierarchies, Inventory Pool behaviors, and Payment Gateways; and translating business promotions into structured CommerceLayer Promotion Rules.
•Agile Backlog Management, User Story Authoring & Gherkin Acceptance Criteria
•Experience Required: Minimum 4 Years
•Focus Areas: Owning, grooming, and prioritizing the engineering product backlog within Jira/Azure DevOps; writing highly granular User Stories that map data-exchange models; and detailing rigorous functional acceptance criteria using Gherkin syntax (Given-When-Then) to drive automated QA and engineering workflows.
•Multi-Market Pricing, Checkout Validation & UAT Governance
•Experience Required: Minimum 3 Years
•Focus Areas: Defining regional pricing, tax rules (Avalara/TaxJar inputs), and local payment routing expectations; structuring User Acceptance Testing (UAT) frameworks for headless applications; and coordinating end-to-end transaction validations across frontend decoupled UI variants and CommerceLayer order pipelines.
•Legacy eCommerce Replatforming & Delta-State Analysis
•Experience Required: Minimum 3 Years
•Focus Areas: Performing exhaustive gap-analysis routines between monolithic platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, SAP Hybris) and CommerceLayer; structuring phase-based rollback, co-existence, or pilot rollouts; and mapping legacy product/customer attributes to the CommerceLayer JSON:API schema structure.
